Boutique Hotel in Menorca
Role: Designer
Year: 2022-23
The essence of this boutique hotel & residence conversion lies in the spirit of returning the best examples of vernacular architecture to the community in which it is located. This 1886 manor house, situated in the historic center of the port town of Mahon, Menorca is a fine example of late 19th century Spanish architecture and has remained in the same family until now. It features Mares stone walls, local to the island, original boiserie and ceramic flooring, as well as original terra cotta roof tiles. The conversion took careful consideration of these details, and the result is a mixed-use property with a cafe, bar, and gallery on the ground floor, 4 hotel rooms and 4 condos arranged across the top two floors, as well as a spa and rooftop terrace.
